Wayne was a college friend of Dwayne McDuffie and worked with him at [Milestone Media]]. He formed an editing team with McDuffie and Maddie Blaustein. By 2000, he had moved into writing for animation where he grew his career thanks to his old friends Richard Pursel and Jim Krieg. He was reunited with McDuffie on Static Shock, and became story editor for Justice League Unlimited.
