Synopsis for "RED SEPULCHRE PART THREE of FOUR"

This issue begins with John's explanation of the nature of his familial connection with the Sepulchre. At the end of his story, Fredericks leaves John alone with Gemma. Gemma explains how excited she is to be getting acquainted with magic, just like him. John then scorns her for being so reckless and worrying her parents. He tells her that she is in way over her head, and that Fredericks is not the man she thinks he is. She denies his claims, and angrily exclaims that she will pursue magical insight on her own, without him. The demon summoned by Clarice and Albert is forced to assist them in their struggle. John is brought in to oversee the search for the Sepulchre, and placed in charge of two of Fredericks' men who very much dislike him. It is then revealed that Fredericks is haunted by nightmares involving a monstrous hound. These dreams appear to be getting worse as time goes on. As Fredericks sleeps and his men search for the Sepulchre – now revealed to be a weapon of some kind – the summoned demon, in the guise of the deceased Packer, attacks Fredericks' men. Meanwhile, John contacts Map and asks for assistance. Map does not trust Constantine and seems reluctant to help, suggesting instead that it would be easier to just kill him to disrupt Fredericks' plans. The demon is able to kill several men, before eventually being cleverly outsmarted and destroyed. Fredericks is awoken by the racket, and sends Constantine along with two of his men to find and kill Clarice. Clarice and Albert then sense that the demon has been defeated, and worry about what will happen next. Albert states that they had no choice but to work with Fredricks in order to obtain the Sepulchre before he did. John then calls Clarice, who apologetically confesses her part in John's predicament, and explains that it was a necessary evil to ensure the destruction of the Sepulchre – an object far too powerful to be left in the wrong hands. John tells her she should have trusted him, and tells her to look out the window. She does, and is spotted by John and Fredericks' two men. One of them then throws a grenade through that window, and it explodes.
