These aren't just Butts, they're an entirely new species of creature that we categorized as Gluteus Morticus. Infinitely complex, highly intelligent with deeply engrained social dynamics.

Gluteus Morticus, commonly referred to as the Butts, are a race of beings that resemble large human buttocks with eyes, arms, and sharp teeth. They are carnivorous and will eat anything or anyone without hesitation, and they have often come into conflict with the Doom Patrol.
History
At some point, the Bureau of Normalcy, an anti-oddity agency, captured the Butts, imprisoning them in the Ant Farm. Over the years, the agents plant dolls to tame the Butts without success, killing the last guard until in 2017, the doctor and linguistics expert, Margaret Yu, fell in love with the Butts, considering them beautiful creatures, teaching them to sing, naming two Butts twins, Nicholas and Theodore. During a music session, General Wampus interrupted the Butts, causing her to fear them and the agents decided to use the Butts as weapons, sending Margaret to another category of work.[1]
In 2019, when a group of metahumans freed the prisoners, among them the Butts, who began to kill almost all the agents. During the big escape, Margaret was unaware of all the chaos as the agents evacuated, noticing several dead Butts, but to her surprise, Nicholas was hidden, so Margaret escaped the bureau, adopting Nicholas, living a happy life. Since there were several Butts on the loose, the bureau hired a professional hunter of the creatures, the Butt Hunter, to kill the Butts.[3][1]
During the escape, agent Darren Jones had been infected by the Butts, causing him to transform into one of the creatures, and when his life fell apart from losing his wife and his job, Jones used his power to get revenge on the group, using the Butts against them. The group, turned into zombies, and the sorcerer Willoughby Kipling, went to the barn to rescue Niles Caulder's head, but Darren surprised them with his transformation, calling all the Butts, although the Butts were brutally killed, except for Darren, who went to Cloverton turned into a Butt-Zombie.[2]
In an apocalyptic future, a Zombie Butt infected several people, causing the Buttpocalypse, ending the world and killing the superhero team, the Doom Patrol of the future. The group, now the Doom Patrol of the present, accidentally traveled to 2042, discovering the terrifying future, deciding to find a way to prevent their deaths. The former vigilante, Vic Stone and multi-personality girl, Jane, went on a mission to steal the last Zombie Butt from the Butt Hunter. At the same time, Laura De Mille, the team's temporary leader, and the robotman, Cliff Steele, confronted Darren, killing him thinking he would cause the Buttpocalypse as a zombie. As there was only one Zombie Butt left, Cliff was tasked with killing it, but out of compassion, he let it live in the refrigerator until the Zombie Butt accidentally escaped.[4][1][5]
