G-Mode

G-Mode Corporation (株式会社ジー・モード) is a Japanese IT company specialized in production, development, distribution, and operation of game sites for mobile phone games, as well as licensing of intellectual properties for third party developers. It is the current rights owner of the Data East brand and most of it's games.

History

G-Mode Corporation was established in March 2014 from the merge of two companies, G-Mode Co. Ltd. and One-Up Co. Ltd.. The original G-Mode Co. was founded in July 2000 and specialized in Java mobile games, while One-Up was founded in June 2006 and specialized in browser games.[1] In April 2015 the company became a subsidiary of Marvelous Inc., moving its main offices to Shinagawa, Tokyo the next year.

In February 2004, G-Mode Co. acquired the intellectual rights to Data East's catalogue as well as the Data East brand.[2] In 2017, G-Mode Corporation launched the Data East Revival Project, working into licensing Data East's games for release in modern platforms.
