Lao Chao is a renowned chef from Dark Chronicle whose special Miracle Dumplings dish can cure any illness. He owns a bistro in the future Starlight Temple, which is even popular with people from Max's time. From his appearance and requirement to be brought back, it can be inferred that he is descended from Ferdinand.
Lao Chao is a friendly chef, eager to help out but disappointed that he lacks a key ingredient. He cooks with great gusto, and displays great passion for his work. Lao Chao wears a Chinese style costume with long, wide sleeves, into which he often sits the opposite hands. He has a long, braided mustache that almost looks as if it's coming from his nose. He also wears seeing glasses with a spiral pattern on them.
