Will You Please Be My Girlfriend...? (俺と付き合ってくれますか…?, Ore to Tsukiatte Kuremasu ka...??) is the fourth episode of the A Couple of Cuckoos anime series.
Plot
Following the open declaration to Hiro, Nagi learns that he beat Hiro in the Top Grade Exam and when he confesses his love for her she rejects him. All because he only beat her once and that she's already engaged to someone.
Summary
The Top Grade Exam results are released, and Nagi places first. As Nagi waits for an appropriate time to approach Hiro, he's met by two groups of people who thank him for winning against Hiro. This causes Nagi not to be able to approach Hiro when he has the chance and fails even to meet Hiro throughout the school day. However, an opportunity arises when he receives another letter from Hiro in his shoe locker. It asked for Nagi to meet her on the rooftop after school, and upon reading this, Nagi hastily rushes to the rooftop and finds Hiro there, pleased to see him. When Hiro asks him why he was so ardent in surpassing her, Nagi answers that he once heard her say she likes people more intelligent than her. Hearing that made Nagi want to confess his feeling for her when he finally surpassed her in the Top Grade Exam. He then confesses his love for her and asks to go out with her. However, she does not consider his victory an absolute one as he still has ten losses on his belt. Hence she rejects his feelings for him, but Nagi refuses to give in and vows to beat her ten more times. This leads to a back and forth argument about how superior the other is. Ultimately, it ends with them both exhausted on the floor of their classroom after racing to get their backpack first. Although Nagi won that match, Hiro still cannot go out with him due to being engaged to someone else.
Back at home, Nagi contemplates the situation while lying on his bed, and the moment he rolls off of it, he gets an epiphany that she told him so they can elope. Erika then appears in Nagi's room to remind him that their two-week stay is finally over. Downstairs, Nagi has his things packed, and the two briefly reflect on their time in the house, which Nagi admits was fun. On the other hand, Erika didn't share the same sentiments and listed her complaints about her time there.
Outside of the home, Nagi respectfully says goodbye to the house, which Erika misinterprets as him saying goodbye to her. Once the two go their separate ways, Nagi takes the bus home while Erika waits for her chauffeur to pick her up. However, he's surprised to see his house locked up upon arriving home. Nagi contacts his Mom and learns that they had a plumbing problem, and it forced them to move out of their home temporarily and where they're staying now has little space. Therefore, there's no room for Nagi to stay at the temp place. So, Nagi contacts his biological father to ask him if it's alright to stay at the house for a while, and he accepts.
Arriving back at the house, Nagi is surprised to see that Erika is still there and learns that she wants to learn how to be more independent. Hearing this impresses Nagi, and he offers to teach her how, which elates her, and she immediately asks him to do her laundry for her. Meanwhile, Sachi learns from her parents that Nagi will not live with them. Despite her refusal that she'd go live with them, she does express interest in visiting them to see what their house looks like.
Eventually, it's announced that Sachi will be visiting their place to drop off more supplies for Nagi, and Erika is in an uproar because she will meet her sister. Nagi reassures Erika that Sachi is a good, easy-going person and that she'll get along with her well. Relieved to hear that, Erika becomes startled when the doorbell rings, and Sachi is seen squatting outside their front door with Nagi's belongings. Escorted inside, Sachi meets her sister Erika who sat on the couch and incoherently greeted her, and Sachi also sheepishly said her greeting. The interactions between the two shock Nagi and he offers to show Sachi his room. There, Nagi asks Sachi why she's there as he was under the impression that she wanted to see her sister. Sachi confirms this; however, she was anxious about how net famous she was and how cuter she was in person.
Because of his sibling's anxiety, Nagi has them cook a fried chicken dinner with him. The two epically fail to create the meal, but in the end, they still make a decent meal thanks to Nagi's cooking skills. As they enjoy their meal, Nagi comments on Sachi and Erika's similarities. Later, the two bond with Sachi, trying on a dress given to her by Erika. Soon after this, they show Nagi, who could not recognize Sachi in the dress, causing him to get beaten up by her. Once that was settled, Nagi took a picture of Sachi with Erika's cellphone.
Sachi tells her mother about her time at Nagi and Erika's home at home.
