It's Almost Like Anything Could Happen!!? (なにが起きてもおかしくないのでは!!?, Nani ga Okite mo Okashikunai node wa!!??) is the seventeenth episode of the A Couple of Cuckoos anime series.
Plot
Nagi, Erika, Hiro, and Shion all participate in a study camp in one of Erika's spare homes in Karuizawa. It's there that both Shion and Nagi try and get closer to their love interests, while Nagi struggles to keep up on his studies.
Summary
Late night at home, Sachi learns that both Nagi and Erika will be participating in a Study Camp that weekend. Erika offers Sachi to join them, and she immediately agrees; she then learns that Hiro and that attending the camp would help her final and entrance exams. Looking at his phone, Nagi notices that the weather forecast for the week is warm and sunny, while Sachi goes to prepare for the camp. When it's mentioned that neither Sachi nor Nagi doesn't have any money, Erika offers them shelter in her holiday house in Karuizawa.
The following day, Hiro drives Erika, Nagi, and Shion, who tagged along after overhearing that Sachi couldn't make it with them to the study camp location. Wasting no time, the group enters the house and is excited about the weekend, while Sachi is stuck at her family's home with a cold. Returning to the study group, they all note how impressed they are with the place, and Erika discloses its background. Spotting a framed picture, Erika places it on its front and pulls Hiro away to show her the upstairs area. At that moment, Nagi realizes he'll be spending time alone with Hiro, and Shion then asks him who he prefers after mentioning that he personally likes Erika. Briefly flustered by the question, Nagi answers that it's Hiro, and Shion asks that they cooperate, winning over their respective interest. However, when Nagi corrects him why they're initially there, Shion brushes it off.
Afterward, when Hiro suggests they start studying in the living room, Erika proclaims that they must purchase food first as the place isn't properly stocked. So Erika and an insistent Shion go shopping, while Nagi and Hiro stay behind to start studying until Hiro suggests they go outside. Later outside, they visit a lake area that Hiro saw from the house balcony. On the lake's pier, Hiro spots a fish and suggests they go fishing the next day; although Nagi claims they're there to study, Hiro remarks it's good to take breaks too. On the other hand, Nagi calls Hiro out for trying to keep him from taking 1st place from her, which she jokingly confesses to. Nagi then asks what Hiro's true purpose for coming and she answers that it's because Nagi was there. Elsewhere, Erika and Shion are shown shopping with a cart full of snacks and drinks in their basket, while Erika ponders now what's appropriate to purchase. She then figures that Nagi, who usually did the shopping, could make something with what they have, and Shion then compliments Erika's shopping skills. Just then, Shion helps Erika from tripping backward and, after doing so, notes he wants to confess something to her.
While Hiro takes a bath, Nagi reflects in the living room why Hiro wanted to take a bath, as Erika barges in and demands to know where Hiro was. Nagi informs Erika of Hiro's location, and she rushes off to the bath as Shion enters the living room. Shion then tells Nagi that he confessed to Erika, which shocks Nagi, but then learns that Shion didn't "confess" to her, but thanked her for inviting him. Meanwhile, in the bath area, Erika confesses to Hiro that she forgot her underwear, and Hiro embraces her, noting how cute she is. Returning to Nagi and Shion, Nagi confesses that he once again declared his love for Hiro, but mentions that she put their "relationship" on hold. He explains why their relationship is on hold, which astonishes Shion, and proposes they continue cooperating with their relationship endeavors.
That night, everyone minus Shion studied in the living room, and Hiro rebuked Nagi for not studying and said he should be more like Erika, who was holding her English book upside down. Shion then enters the scene with ice cream, and as they eat it, he mentions that he found a shrine that could be haunted.
Afterward, it's decided that they should all investigate the shrine and split up into two teams. Erika goes with Nagi; much to his dismay and at a good enough distance, Erika confesses that she has something she wants to tell him. Back at the house, Shion and Hiro talk about Hiro always wanting to be first in the test grades. Hiro notes that she'll never back down in vying for first place and offers to help Shion confess to Erika.
