Doan (ドン Don?) is a character that appears in the Future in Chrono Trigger. Doan is the descendant of the director of the Arris Dome.
Storyline
When Chrono, Marle, and Lucca enter the Arris Dome, he is surprised to hear they made it through Site 16 alive. When the three want to enter the basement of the dome, he tells them that he and the other survivors have made many attempts themselves, which ended in failure. The three enter the basement despite the warning, defeat the Guardian, and find a Seed.
When they come up from the basement, they give the seed to Doan. He says that they are a strange bunch, to which Marle says it is because they are healthy. Doan says he will try his best to grow the seed and gives the three the Jetbike Key, which they can use to drive a jetbike at Site 32. Doan mentions that more powerful robots lie ahead and that they should not give up hope.
Once the party defeats Lavos, it is revealed that Doan is a descendant of the Kings of Guardia, meaning that Marle is distantly related to Doan. Interestingly, Doan still appears unhealthy and underfed at the end of the game, even though the future he now comes from is no longer bleak and miserable.
Name Origin
The name Doan is taken from the Gaelic 'dubhan', which means "little and dark".
