Athena

"Zeus, Athena, Aphrodite. They were mortals?"
Piper Halliwell asking about the Gods.[src]

Athena, also known as the Goddess of War, was once a mortal, but became Goddess of War thanks to the Elders in order to defeat the Titans.

History

Athena and the other gods succeeded in their mission but proceeded to force the world to worship them.[1]

Athena cursed the witch Medusa by turning her into a gorgon as revenge for defiling her temple "with" Poseidon as well as a means to warn the Elders not to mess with the gods, as she knew Medusa was sent by them to spy on them. She then started a rumor about Medusa's eyes being cursed to turn anyone who gazed upon her to stone. When she later learned that Medusa retained some of her magic, she sent Perseus to assassinate the woman out of rage. When Medusa's sisters, Stheno and Euryale, learned about what happened, they went after Athena, who cursed them as well.[2]
