The Urn of Ishtar was a container dedicated to the goddess Ishtar.^[1]

History

In 1999, Willow Rosenberg had two of the Urn of Ishtar among her magical artifacts in a chest. She used one of the urns to perform the "My will be done" spell, pouring a bubbly liquid from the cup into a metal pentagram on the floor.^[2]

While organizing the Magic Box shop, Anya Jenkins complained about finding a cigarette inside the urn. With this, the Scooby Gang discovered that Spike, who had smoked them the night before, had been with Dawn Summers when she found out her identity as the Key.^[1]

Behind the scenes

• Inanna is an ancient Mesopotamian goddess associated with love, beauty, sex, desire, fertility, war, justice, and political power. She was originally worshiped in Sumer and was later worshiped by the Akkadians, Babylonians, and Assyrians under the name Ishtar.
