United Paramount Network, known simply as UPN, was an American television network created in 1995. It broadcast Buffy the Vampire Slayer series from 2001 to 2003.

History

In 2001, UPN entered into a public bidding war to acquire Buffy the Vampire Slayer from The WB, when the network had chosen not to renew it due to increasing license fees.[1] UPN eventually outbid The WB and aired it on Tuesday nights, until the series finale in 2003.

On January 26, 2006, WB and UPN merged to form the CW network, resulting in the disappearance of the two networks.
