Oz, Part Two is the second issue of the Oz comic book miniseries. Written by Christopher Golden and illustrated by Logan Lubera, it was originally published on August 15, 2001, by Dark Horse Comics.
Synopsis
- With the help of a wizened Tibetan Monk and the beautiful, young demon-girl, Oz hopes to gain control over the wolf half of his nature. As the weeks draw closer to the next full moon, Oz prepares to meet his worst enemy: himself. Dark forces are on the move. Will Oz defeat the twisted minions or will he become the latest addition to the demons' nightmare menagerie?[1]
Summary
Shantou explains the monastery was attacked by a variety of beasts, sorcery and demons under the employ of Muztag. There had been rumors that Muztag had begun to gather forces of darkness, but as Muztag was thought to be a creature of legend Shantou didn't believe them. During the attack some of the monks were killed but most were abducted, Shantou being the only one left behind.
After Shantou tells him there is nothing he can do in his current state, Oz decides to leave again, until Jinan calls him out, saying he can't just walk away. While Shantou reiterates there is nothing either of them can do to help, he says he may be able to help Oz to control the wolf if he chooses to stay, which Oz accepts.
In Muztag's lair one of the prisoners from Shantou's monastery is subject to a torturous spell in an attempt to make them obedient to Muztag. Becoming impatient, Muztag snaps the prisoner's neck.
Outside Shantou's monastery Oz meditates while Shantou teaches Jinan how to make a potion. At the first night of the full moon, Jinan tells Oz about the potion and flirts with him, but Oz is non-receptive. After swallowing the potion Oz, Jinan and Shantou go outside, where Oz meditates but soon transforms into his werewolf form. Jinan transforms into her demon form but Oz quickly knocks her away. Oz is finally knocked out by Shantou.
In another town, Muztag's demons, including Shantou's monks, attack.
The night of the full moon Oz goes outside again to meditate, but is unsuccessful in his attempt of keeping the wolf at bay. Shantou knocks him out again. The third night of the full moon he manages to hold the wolf off for some moments, but quickly fails again. The following day Oz and Jinan converse, with Jinan saying Oz is not really alone. Oz disagrees, saying he is alone now, but there is someone he wants to go back to. Seeing Muztag's army gathered, Jinan says it may not be the moon that stops him from going back home again.
