Mister Gordo was the name of a stuffed pig[1][2][3] Buffy Summers kept in her bedroom.[4][5][6]
History
Mr. Gordo was among Buffy's belongings when she and her mother moved to Sunnydale in 1996.[4] Buffy slept with the stuffed pig on her bed,[7][8] where it stayed even while she was awake.[6] When Buffy did not sleep with Mr. Gordo, it lay on the floor under the bed.[9]
In 1997, while waiting for Buffy, Angel found the toy in her bedroom. He kept holding and caressing it until she returned from patrol.[1]
In 1999, along with all of Buffy's belongings from when she moved to her dorm in UC Sunnydale, Mr. Gordo was taken to the lair of Sunday's gang, the Psi Theta building. Buffy later fought the gang and retrieved it.[2]
After the destruction of Sunnydale, Buffy kept Mr. Gordo in her bedroom while living in Scotland[10] and San Francisco.[11] A picture of Mr. Gordo was Buffy's calling picture in Dawn's cellphone.[12]
When Buffy's niece Joyce was born, she had a pink stuffed pig in her cradle.[13]
Behind the scenes
- "Gordo" is the word "fat" in both Spanish and Portuguese.
- Normally in color pink, Mr. Gordo is black and white in the episode "The Freshman."
- In non-canon comic series Buffy the Vampire Slayer Classic, Mr. Gordo was an object of dispute between Buffy and Dawn while living in Los Angeles, as the younger sister would often take the toy in secrecy to play and deal with the Slayer's absence.
- The item had a licensed Mr. Gordo plush replica produced in 2007.
