John Ritter was an actor who portrayed Ted Buchanan on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer televisions series.
Career
Having appeared in over 100 films and television series combined, Ritter is best known for his role of Jack Tripper in the sitcom Three's Company, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award in 1984. He briefly reprised the role on the spin-off Three's a Crowd in 1985.
In addition to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ritter made guest appearances on television shows such as Felicity, Ally McBeal, Scrubs, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Ritter's acting credits also include the films It, Problem Child, Problem Child 2, Sling Blade, and Bad Santa. His final roles include voicing the title character on the PBS children's program Clifford the Big Red Dog, for which he received four Daytime Emmy Award nominations, as Paul Hennessy on the ABC sitcom 8 Simple Rules.
