Druid was a magical practitioner that communed with nature. In 1998, Rupert Giles retreated to a site of Druidic rituals, at the clearing at the top of Breaker's Woods.[1]
Years later, Willow Rosenberg carried a purity pendant, a Druid amulet used to magically remove poison from a substance.[2]
Spike once described the celebration of Halloween as "druid nonsense."[3]
Behind the scenes
- The non-canon novel Return to Chaos features a family of Druids from Wales, composed of George, Stephen, Ian, Tom, and Dave. They were capable of projecting images of themselves across great distances to remotely interact with others. Well-versed in dreams, they would enter the dreams of others and sometimes receive prophetic dreams.
- In his first meeting with Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt, one of the episodes Tim Minear pitched had Xander losing his virginity because Druids would be coming to Sunnydale looking for a virgin sacrifice; this life or death situation would be a metaphor for how being a boy in high school felt.[4]
