Brahma

The Brahma was a zen demon[1] and member of the Magic Council in its two first formations.[2][3]

Biography

During the end of magic, the Brahma and other entities formed the Magic Council to protect the remaining magic on Earth. They enlisted Buffy Summers when they identified Severin as a threat to the natural order;[2] together, the Council held off the Siphon and survived his attack.[4]

Later, the Council tried to prevent Buffy, Willow, and Xander from entering in the Deeper Well.[1] However, the Council sided with Buffy to when they discovered that Severin and Simone had entered it. The Brahma was left to guard Xander, who had betrayed Buffy, while the others went after the Siphon. Simone freed the Old One Maloker,[5] and D'Hoffryn and the Brahma were the only Council members to survive the event.[6]

After the restoration of magic, the Brahma and D'Hofryn formed a second incarnation of the Magic Council with other entities.[3] With their help, Buffy and Giles wrote a series of rules in the Vampyr book, in which each member of the Council would have a particular ability that they could use against those who threatened Earth's balance. The Brahma's ability was to sense any opponent's greatest weakness.[7]

Later, D'Hoffryn killed the Brahma and the other members of the Council, absorbing their written abilities as its last member.[8]

Behind the scenes

  • In Hindiusm, Brahma is the name of the Creator within the Trimurti, the triple deity of supreme divinity that includes Vishnu (destroyer) and Shiva (re-creator). He is commonly depicted as a red or golden complexioned bearded man, with four heads and hands.
