Kata[1] is a Ninja minifigure introduced in 1998. He has appeared in five sets.
Description
Kata has bright blue torso, arms, and hip, and black legs. He wears a grey Samurai Helmet, and his torso is printed with silver armor. His face features prominent black eyebrows and sideburns.
Background
Kata is one of Shogun Gi-Dan's most trusted samurai, along with Dojo. In The Adventures of the LEGO Maniac, Kata and Dojo are tasked with transporting Gi-Dan's treasure and sword, but the shogun's sword is stolen by Bonsai. They go to the Robber's Retreat, where Kata dodges the swinging axes and retrieves the sword. An earthquake cuts off their escape route, but the LEGO Maniac rescues them.
In Time Cruisers, Kata and two other samurai are sent to retrieve the blue sapphire after it is stolen by the Robber King. They watch Kendo unloading the chest containing the jewel, but they are caught by the Robber King and his Black Ninjas. While Tim and Ingo escape, the three samurai are taken prisoner by the Black Ninjas.
Notes
- While pages 13 and 14 of the LEGO Mania Magazine July-August 1998 issue make it explicitly clear which minifigure is intended to be Kata, the minifigures of Kata and Dojo are mixed up in 5002888 LEGO Minifigure Year by Year: A Visual History.[2] This may be the result of circular reporting, since this Brickipedia article formerly made the same error in 2012, prior to the book's release.
- A second samurai, identical to Kata's minifigure, appears alongside Kata in 6093 Flying Ninja Fortress.
