Gears

Gears act as sub-parts of the Race Awakening. There are five gears in total:

  1. First Gear: For the Transformation itself.
  2. Second-Fourth Gears: For choosing abilities.
  3. Fifth Gear: For upgrading the duration of the awakening and how fast the bar fills up (obtained from Ancient One).

Appearance

The gears appear as cogs, with the first three being relatively bigger than the last two. However, in the Draco Race, these Gears come as Embers instead, which are glowing diamond-shaped objects. These are essentially just Gears and are colored according to the Gear the player chooses. The first and fifth gears appear golden-yellow in color, while the three in between are either red or blue (depends on the ability chosen).

Behavior

When a player completes their trial and prevails in battle, a shining circle light appears that looks like a cog, which then moves away from the user as they come closer and leads them into the Ancient Clock, where it then disappears. The player will now be able to access the Ancient Clock, where there will be multiple empty gear slots. When the player puts the gear in, multiple fragments will join together and form a gear in the slot.

Lore

The main idea of gears is that when the Ancient Clock gives the player their Race Awakening, it requires the gears to function properly. This is evident from the following statement of the Sealed King:

Ah, so it was the Temple of Time that I felt...
That place may hold key to that power, but you must undergo a trial to grab hold of it.
Powers involving time always work best under the light of a full moon.

It can be speculated that the Ancient Clock is the source of the power because it is located in the Temple of Time and the race awakening is said to be a "power involving time", and a clock keeps track of time, with gears helping it function.

Categories

There are two main types of gears: Awakening and Ability

Awakening Gears

These gears are used to either obtain or upgrade the awakening itself. There are two gears in this category, the first and fifth gears. They appear yellow in-game. The first gear can be obtained after getting the Blue Gear and prevailing in the first trial and the fifth can only be obtained from the Ancient One and serves as the last gear.

Ability Gears

For the details about the abilities, see Race Awakening.

These gears are used to obtain special abilities on race awakening. They are divided into two subcategories, the red and blue gears. Their color depends on the player's choice, either red or blue. Only one ability can be upgraded to tier 2, in which case the ratio of the ability gears would be 2:1 when maxed. The blue gear usually grants the user a special active ability (such as offensive fields, projectiles or variable buffs) whilst the red gear usually grants the user a mobility move or a passive buff.

The gear assigned to different abilities in various races is listed below:

Race Blue Gear (Left) Red Gear (Right)
Human Limit Break Psycho
Shark Whirlpool Leviathan Armor
Rabbit Whirlwind Lightning Cloak
Angel King's Rule Prince of the Skies
Ghoul Domain Expansion Blood Siphon
Cyborg Aftershock Energy Control
Draco Cometic Field Thorn Mail

Trivia

  • If the player disconnects or leave after winning a trial, they can still choose their gear after re-joining.
  • They are similar to Embers.
  • Completing the fifth trial will grant permanent access to the Ancient Clock from that race, making it so players can swap out their gears whenever they want for once every time they enter the server.
  • If the slot is empty, it will give the player the option to choose either of the blue or red gears. However, if the player has already chosen one of these gears twice, they will only have the option to put in the other. Similarly, when they are maxed and have completed the fifth trial, the player can only swap out gears, so they will be given the option to main the gear they have not current chosen to upgrade (add another gear to), meaning they will have to degrade the previous ability that they have upgraded in exchange for upgrading the other ability.
