Pet Rabbit

Sometimes all you need is a super cute wee bunny pet! Or several!
~ Description of "Pet Rabbit"

Killerrabbit

The Pet Rabbit is an item purchasable in Geraldo's Shop, and is categorized as a sub-tower. When bought, it hops around within Geraldo's range and is purely cosmetic at first. If there are four Pet Rabbits, they will all merge into a single Killer Rabbit that charges around the screen and attacks bloons and can't be interacted with. Once they merge, Geraldo does not sell any more rabbits, so there is a limit of one rabbit in single-player mode.

The Killer Rabbit deals a high amount of damage per hit to any bloons it touches (including Lead and Camo) with each charge popping up to 15 bloons. Initially, the damage starts at 10, increased by +30 to Ceramics and MOAB-class, and similarly to the Avatar of Wrath the Killer Rabbit increases its base damage by +1 per 2250 RBE up to +40 (90,000 RBE). It has a massive 80 range, which is uniquely centered on the rabbit instead of Geraldo. However, when there are no bloons nearby Killer Rabbit, it will automatically return to Geraldo. It can also attack through walls and other Line of Sight obstacles. The pop count of the Killer Rabbit counts towards Geraldo's total pop count.

Both Pet Rabbits and the Killer Rabbit last forever until Geraldo is sold. Pet Rabbits cannot be interacted with, and instead simply work like a hero pet cosmetic. Upon Geraldo reaching Level 10, he will unlock Pet Rabbits, by default having two in stock. They restock every 3 rounds.

Each rabbit costs $1,275 on Easy, $1,500 on Medium, $1,620 on Hard, $1,800 on Impoppable, meaning the Killer Rabbit can be obtained for $5100, $6000, $6480, and $7200 respectively.

Summary

Pet Rabbits are an investment for producing a very strong long-ranged sub-tower called Killer Rabbit. It only costs $5,100 on Easy, $6,000 on Medium, $6,480 on Hard and $7,200 on Impoppable to obtain a Killer Rabbit, making it highly cost-effective.

The Killer Rabbit can be used as an easy source of extra DPS, as it does not take up any space aside from requiring Geraldo himself, and it is very inexpensive for its strength.

Tips

  • It is recommended to rush the Killer Rabbit as soon as possible because of the capped amount of Pet Bunnies per round if there's enough money, as it is powerful to get up early.
  • It's best to buy the first rabbit, then the second, and then buy the last two rabbits at the same time. Buying the third rabbit without buying the fourth is a waste, so it's better to save that money in case you need it.
  • The Killer Rabbit can attack through solid cover, making it a very strong choice on maps with many obstacles, like Another Brick or Encrypted.
    • It is also highly effective for a tower that can be obtained in the mid-Round 60's, as its 40 damage can allow it to destroy Super Ceramics in two hits. It can remain powerful well past round 80, even without buffs, as it contains a damage scaling mechanic similarly to Avatar of Wrath.
  • Positioning Geraldo near a central location is key to allow Killer Rabbit to detect Bloons. It can only jump up to 80 range from its current position, including when it defaults back to Geraldo if Bloons no longer become in range after a while.

Trivia

  • The Killer Rabbit appears to be a direct reference to the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which is well known for featuring a similar white-coloured killer rabbit with red eyes, named The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog.
  • At the end of the round, when trying to pop the last bloon the Killer Rabbit can go berserk, rapidly moving around the map radically.
  • If the Killer Rabbit can't find any Bloons nearby, it will teleport near Geraldo and become idle.
  • The filename for the Pet Rabbit transformation to Killer Rabbit is named GeraldoItemWereRabbit.wav. This particular name is likely a reference to the film Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
