Cannon Ship is an upgrade for the Monkey Buccaneer, first released in BTD5 Generation. It is characterized by gaining an independent bomb attack in addition to darts and grapes. In the BTD5 Generation, bombs are similar to the Bigger Bombs upgrade for the Bomb Tower. In the Bloons TD 6 Generation, the bombs can be shot from both sides, and these explosives produce fragments upon collision, similarly to Bomb Shooter's Frag Bombs upgrade.
The Cannon Ship upgrade in both the Bloons TD 5 Generation and Bloons TD 6 Generation games follow along the upgrade path that introduces additional weapons and emphasizes a 1800's Caribbean-style pirate theme as the Buccaneer gets further upgraded. In the BTD6 Generation, the Crow's Nest upgrade is omitted along the path, and is replaced with an upgrade to the Grape Shot upgrade that adds fire to the grapes, Hot Shot.
