Quute was a colonel in the Federation force on Helotrix, serving under the General. He was often frustrated by the General's tendency to be distracted by rambling anecdotes. He personally questioned Igin after he had been captured and adapted with pylene-50, learning he was a member of Hunda's fourth column of the resistance and had been trying to find a way into the city to lay charges under the Federation's communications terminal. Quute let him go with a tracking device intending for him to lead them to the rebels. When the Tracer reported Igin had been stationary for an hour, Quute ordered a missile strike on his location. However, Igin had actually stopped some distance from the other rebels and was the only casualty. The rebels wiped out the unit of converted Helots that Quute sent to investigate.
He and the General were scheduled to be deployed to Wanta once they had handed power over to Practor. He dismissed the General's talk of the Helots' skill in hand to hand combat, thinking such things had no value anymore. The Tracer alerted him to Orac's accessing their records and he managed to convince the General to order a search for Scorpio after pointing out Orac could obtain any Federation information.
Quute joined the General in enacting Leitz's plan to lure the rebels into the old monorail and blow it up. However, Quute quickly realised that what the General assumed was a feint attack was actually being done at full strength: The rebels had learned of the monorail trap and also been immunised against pylene-50. Quute was part of a squad led by the General and Servalan (in her Commissioner Sleer identity) that attempted to stop the rebels, guided by Tarrant and Dayna, at the concourse. During the battle, he was killed by one of the Helot rebels in hand to hand combat. (D: Traitor)
