- “There’s a reason you don’t see a lot of Toa of Sonics around – they are vulnerable to their own power. One of the Great Beings’ little jokes, I guess.”
- — Jerbraz, Brothers in Arms

Toa of Sonics was a title given to a Toa who wielded the Element of Sonics. Toa of Sonics were typically transformed from a De-Matoran. Should a Toa of Sonics fulfill his destiny, they were given the option of sacrificing their Toa Power and becoming a Turaga of Sonics.
If a Toa of any element were to lose their Kanohi, their Elemental Powers would be halved, and their overall strength greatly weakened.
Powers
A Toa of Sonics' Elemental power gave them near-perfect command over sonic energy. As such, at a basic level they could create, control, and absorb sound. Examples of this included creating sonic booms, absorbing or manipulating sound in an area to create silence, using sonar, or muting sound around an enemy in order to confuse them. Toa of Sonics also naturally had incredibly keen hearing.
Toa of Sonics had few weaknesses, however, if not properly trained a Toa of Sonics' powers could be extremely harmful to themselves, which is why so few of them remained in existence.
They possessed all these abilities on a vastly greater level than a Turaga of Sonics, or a De-Matoran.
Personality and Traits
As only one Toa of Sonics has been seen in the main story, it is unknown what their personalities were generally like.
Toa of Sonics usually wore light grey armor, with dark grey or black as a secondary color. They generally possessed yellow eyes.
All Toa of Sonics were male.
History
Various Toa of Sonics came into being using Toa Stones throughout the history of the Matoran Universe, and at one point there were hundreds of Toa in the universe simultaneously, some of them Toa of Sonics. But after the Great Cataclysm, their numbers began to dwindle, and only a handful were still alive by the time of the Battle of Bara Magna.
Avak and Hakann encountered a Toa of Sonics during their final mission for the Dark Hunters. He objected to their actions and was killed by them. The two later commented on their experience with the Toa when they were on on Voya Nui. After his death, he was sent to the Red Star and revived. However, the Star was not working and he remains trapped there.
Toa of Sonics were extremely rare compared to most other kinds of Toa, even before the reformation of Spherus Magna.
Post-Reformation
After Teridax's death, the remaining Toa of Sonics evacuated onto Spherus Magna, where they aided in the construction effort to build new homes for the refugees of the Matoran Universe.
