"As is often the case, the longer you can hold off, the more likely you'll be screaming in pleasure at the end."
— Orrin Bach (season 3)
Orrin Bach is a former Law Professor who works at a top defense firm and currently serves as Legal Representation for Axe Capital and its employees.
Overview
As a Law Professor, Orrin taught a young Bryan Connerty and many other students that "a lawyers calling was beyond mere recompense, it was to serve the spirit of the law, regardless of gain". But for Orrin, that only proved true until it was impossible to ignore the personal gain. Orrin Bach pulls in an impressive 7-figure salary and is on retainer for Bobby Axelrod at $1000 an hour.
In Season 1, he attempts to recruit Bryan Connerty to join his defense firm, but ultimately fails. Orrin clashes frequently with Bryan as the Southern District of New York attempts to bring a case to destroy Axe Capital. When attempting to charge "Dollar Bill" Stearn, Orrin represents the man on behalf of Axe. Frustrated at being unable to flip Stearn against Axe, Bryan is educated by Orrin that a cult of personality follows Axelrod and he cannot successfully turn his men against him. Orrin is later proven correct when the attempts to flip Donnie Caan prove disastrous.
At one point, when Chuck Rhoades has the upper hand, Bobby Axelrod agrees to make a plea deal. Orrin arranges it with the Southern District and lays out a plan where Bobby pays an unprecedented $1.9 billion dollar fine and agrees to close Axe Capital to run only a small family office. Orrin assures Bobby that when the white house administration turns over, he will see to it that Bobby returns to running his own hedge fund, but Axe walks away from the deal when, at the last minute, Chuck decides to ban Bobby for life from trading.
