Mindmelt is a combat spell used by magicians in Betrayal at Krondor. It is used to inflict damage on an enemy.
Overview
For a cost of 5-15 Health/Stamina, Mindmelt deals damage equal to three times the spell's cost.
No additional items are required to cast Mindmelt, and the target does not need to be in the caster's line of sight.
The amount of damage done by the spell varies in some enemies:
- Double damage: Goblins and Witch Hags
- 50% extra damage: Panath Tiandn and Trolls
- Half damage: Dreads and the game's final antagonist
- Immune: Nethermanders and Spellweavers[1]
Acquisition
Mindmelt is not available as a Magical Scroll anywhere in the game.
In Version 1.01, either Owyn Beleforte or Patrus could learn it at the "Golden Treasure" password house in Dencamp On The Teeth.
In Version 1.02, the house cannot be entered, making the spell entirely unavailable to Patrus; Owyn and Pug can only learn it by using the Cup of Rlnn Skrr.
Roric's Seal is designed to cast Mindmelt, but has only a 20% chance of success, with much higher chances of failure or rebound on the caster.
Trivia
- In Version 1.02, the player can work around this bug as described in Quest:Mindmelt.
