Lyton is a Midkemian village in Betrayal at Krondor. It can first be visited in Chapter 1 and briefly appears in the game's novelization, Krondor: The Betrayal.
Geography
Lyton lies off the King's Highway, along a path found past the fork in the road east of the ruins of Sethanon. The path links the branches of the road that lead southward toward Malac's Cross and westward toward Silden.
Lord Lyton lives in a farm to the northeast of town.
Locations
- Inn: The Wayside
- An empty house containing a +5 whetstone.
- A house where the party hears a loud roaring noise coming from inside. Momentarily alarmed, they quickly realize that the inhabitant is blessed with a mighty snore.
- A house whose inhabitants move around frantically and then try to hide. Despite the party's attempts to convince them otherwise, a man inside, convinced that they are tax collectors, weakly promises to have the sum owed as soon as they can get the money, and refuses to open the door.
- A young lady of about twenty-five years who answers the door politely but directs them to the town well when they ask for water. Understanding that she is probably uncomfortable talking to strangers, the party thanks her and departs.
- An abandoned Shop containing 15 soverigns.
- Two communal barns and a well with drinkable water.
Unusually, Lyton does not have an open Shop.
Krondor: The Betrayal
In Malac's Cross, the party learns from Petrumh that Lysle Riggers, an individual with an uncanny resemblance to James, left for Lyton a few days ago to meet someone she suspects is not a gentleman. The party finds Lysle besieged by Nighthawks in an abandoned barn near Lyton and, after rescuing him, discuss the matter with him at The Wayside, an inn on the edge of town a good walk from the main street. After spending the night at the inn, they discover that Lysle has sold two of their horses and headed westward for Tannerus on the third, and must haggle for new horses before departing for Romney.[1]
