Eldpoint

An Overhead Map view of Eldpoint. The map shows the brown line of the King's Highway running jaggedly from west to east across a dark green landscape dotted with lighter green hills. A gray path descends southward from the highway and jogs to the right, stopping at a dead end. Seven buildings are widely spaced along either side of the highway, with one halfway down the path.

Eldpoint is a town west of Highcastle in Betrayal at Krondor. It can first be visited in Chapter 1.

Geography

Eldpoint lies on the King's Highway east of the pass to Tyr-Sog and west of the crossroads under Highcastle. Scavenger's Meet is located southeast of the town. Westward, an old abandoned house has been occupied by an impoverished family; further westward, before the pass, is the Temple of Dala.

Locations

  • Inn: The Royal Bed
  • Shop: Guds
  • Home of a stout cobbler's wife who exchanges pleasantries with the party and beckons her smiling husband out from his curtained workshop to meet with them. He tries to interest them in shoes for their lady friends, proudly displaying his new high-fashion design, whisch features thin two-inch heels. Asked whether that would not feel like walking downhill all day, the old man considers this perspective and instead offers a pair of Weedwalkers, which the party can choose to accept. If they decline, they can still return later and retrieve the Weedwalkers, after which the cobbler's house serves as a one-slot cache.
  • Home of a stooped potter wiping his hands on a cloth. Welcoming the party, although failing to sell them any pots, he tells them that Eldpoint is an ordinary town and mentions the names of its Inn and Shop before bidding the travelers farewell.
  • A well with drinkable water.
