Hydras are legendary serpent-like beasts that have many heads. They made their appearance in the Physical World after the light that covered the entire earth.^[1]

Appearance

Personality

Hydras have been shown hunting and devouring other beasts,^[1] and have been tamed to an extent by jötnar.^[2]

Abilities

A single hydra requires multiple jötnar to restrain it, displaying great strength.^[2] The fact that they possess multiple different heads makes them difficult to kill as Zodd decapitates a hydra multiple times without inflicting lethal injury.^[2] Furthermore, they are able to regenerate their heads if chopped off and it was only after Grunbeld used his flames to incinerate one of the hydras that it finally died.^[2]

Story

Millennium Falcon Arc

A hydra is one of the first creatures seen after the Great Wave of the Astral World when a pair of lumberjacks witnessed a herd of unicorns being chased by the serpent.^[1]

Fantasia Arc

A hydra is tamed by jötnar and used during a fight between the Band of the Falcon and the giant beings. The serpent-like beast is agitated against Griffith but is easily wiped out by the triple attack of Zodd, Irvine and Grunbeld.^[2]
