Dimension 23 (also known as Universe 23^{[DJW 1]} and the 23rd Dimension^[1][2]) is an alternate reality that closely parallels with Ben's. It is the home dimension of Ben 23.

History

Dimension 23 has a different history than the main dimension. Dimension 23's Bellwood is similar to Ben 10's but has the Mr. Gyro franchise replacing Mr. Smoothy.

Ben 23 found the "Hero Watch" just like in the original series, but had to teach himself how to use it because his Max passed away before the Omnitrix arrived. Ben uses the Omnitrix for fame and fortune, and believes that all aliens are evil (except for his aliens) until his counterpart Ben Prime arrived in this dimension and changed all that.^[3]

Etymology

Dimension 23's name comes from The Number 23, a film about a man who becomes obsessed with the 23 enigma once he reads about it in a strange book that seemingly mirrors his own life.^{[DJW 9][DJW 10]}

The name is also a reference to the 23 enigma, a belief in the significance of the number 23. It suggests that the number 23 appears with unusual frequency in various contexts and may be a symbol of some larger, hidden significance.

• Dimension 23 has a certain predisposition toward the color blue. Many objects are blue, Ben 23's aliens have blue features, and the eyes of Ben 23 and Azmuth are blue. The Omnitrix is also blue.
  • The out-of-universe reason for this is that the crew wanted to use the different color to represent the difference between Dimension 23 and the main dimension.^{[DJW 11]}
• Dimension 23's Gwen is shy.^{[DJW 2]} Unlike her Prime Timeline counterpart, she is not an Anodite.^{[DJW 12]}
• Dimension 23's Kevin works as a busboy in Mr. Gyro.^{[DJW 3]}
• Dimension 23's Jimmy Jones is just a little kid.^{[DJW 5]}
• Dimension 23's Billy Billions is on the Ben 23 Inc. board of directors and is growing up fine.^{[DJW 6]}
• Dimension 23's Dr. Animo is an evil scientist who works with vegetables and is named Dr. Vegeto.^{[5][DJW 7][DJW 8]}
• Dimension 23's Will Harangue is Ben 23's biggest fan.^[5]

• Microchips such as Teeny-Weeny exist in Dimension 23 as a sapient species known as "Nanomites" with their own civilization in the galaxy.^{[DJW 1]}
• Dimension 23 does not have a counterpart to Malware^{[DJW 13]} or the Nemetrix.^{[DJW 14]}
• Much like the Prime Timeline, Dimension 23 has Magic.^{[DJW 15]}
• There are definitely alternate versions of other Cartoon Network characters living in Dimension 23.^{[DJW 16]} With alternate versions of the Secret Saturdays possibly existing in it.^{[DJW 17]}
• Despite being reffered to as a dimension multiple times by different characters, Dimension 23 may not be accurately named.^{[DJW 18]}
