Deshico (デシコ, Deshiko?) is a minor character in Beastars. He is the head and founder of the research organization, Kopi Luwak.
Appearance
Deshico is a civet of presumably young age, short stature, and slim physique. He has a long and rough coat with a light color tone with several dark vertical stripes along both sides of his body. Deshico has very pronounced feline features, in addition to the fact that despite his adult age, he has an extremely childish and soft appearance, attributes that make him resemble a kind of cat with the appearance of a pre-adolescent child. He also has a very long and fluffy tail.
Deshico wears a formal outfit consisting of a white, long-sleeved shirt, a small, dark bow tie, dark-colored linen pants with black suspenders, and black loafers.
Personality
Deshico is a rather jovial character and stands out for having great knowledge about animal nature and hybrid animals. Although Deshico considers his rectal attributes as something he should not be ashamed of since anything that passes through his body becomes valuable, he is quite resentful of the teasing he has received throughout his life for being able to profit from his excrement. In order for not all of his activities to involve a toilet, he spends his time researching hybrid species.
Trivia
- Although in the manga civets are described as felines, in reality they belong to the family of viverrids.
- This error may be due to the fact that civets are feliformes, a suborder of carnivores that share characteristics with felines, in addition to the fact that they are usually called under the name "civet cat", a term that contributes to the confusion between civets and felines.
