Ako (ア コ, Ako?) is a minor character in Beastars.
Appearance
Ako is a rabbit of medium height and slender build. Her fur is light, with two dark spots located around her left eye and the upper half of her left ear. She wears a black tank top under a shoulderless sweater, a necklace, a black miniskirt, and a pair of laced boots.
Personality
Ako demonstrates a very superficial mindset, constantly seeking the approval of others and boasting of being more socially advanced due to her interspecies relationship. Even when her relationship was revealed to be fake, Ako was enraged at being exposed and willing to take her relationship with Eado further just to prove herself.
Beast Complex reveals further that, according to Eado, she is the scariest female he's ever met, a girl who he knows in private as fierce, violent and tough, and the type of person to read a situation and play it to her advantage. Although cheerful, friendly and seemingly forgiving to Eado in front of her friends and other students, in truth this is a facade, and she considers her own "friends" as blabbermouths. When alone, she reveals a cold, dead-eyed face that only cares about using both her scars and her forgiving Eado to spread rumors to increase her popularity and win votes for a pageant. Despite these scars, she is completely uncaring about them to Eado and doesn't berate him for causing them, instead berating him for trying to apologize on a Friday instead of a Monday, as that's not enough to cause rumors to spread before the weekend. She later reveals that, at least in Eado's case, she doesn't want his pity or sympathy and instead considers the scars to be ones she inflicted herself, ones that she'll use to gain fame and fortune through social media and a best-selling memoir. When Eado proclaims his feelings and asks to date for real, she agrees only if Eado studies to become a doctor of reconstructive surgery that's entirely devoted to her and later proposes, all so she can prop up her memoir further. Although she says this with her usual cold, dead-eyed nonchalance, when Eado agrees, she gives him a genuine wide smile and sweet look in her eyes, suggesting that she holds some affection for Eado in return.
