Italy

Italy is the largest level in BeamNG.drive. It was added in late 2018 with the version 0.15, alongside the Autobello Piccolina. It had been continuously improved, notably with updates 0.16 (addition of the city of Portino, improved fortress, port and airport, more gas stations, etc), v0.22 (4 garages and 3 dealerships), v0.26 (updated road and vegetation textures with PBR and other improvements) and v0.34 (new bus shelters design).

Overview

The level is a mediterranean island, based on Northern Italy, with landscapes reminiscent of Piemonte (Piedmont) and Toscana (Tuscany), but also the island of Corsica. The island area is over 16 square kilometers (6.2 sq miles), with 120 km of roads. The highway that goes from Fastello to the airport is about 6 kilometers (~3.5 miles) long. The total population of the island is estimated to be around 33,164, (based off of average amount of households per building and average amount of people per household).

It features olive trees and wine fields, several towns and small villages, a miedeval castle on top of a hill, a coastal fortress, an airport, a commercial cargo seaport, some small fishing ports and marinas and lots of moutains, that makes the crossing through the island laborious, because of the serpentine roads.

The map is ran through a highway and a lot of narrow and twisty roads. Thus, it is the perfect ground for Tour de Corse and Monte Carlo inspired rally stages, as well as hillclimb racing.

When driving around, remember that the speed limit signs are in kilometer/hour. Most roads are limited to 80 km/h (50 mph), and the highway is limited to 90 (55 mph).

There is a registration plate model dedicated to Italy. It follows the modern EU scheme: two digits, space, three letter and two digits (example: AB 123CD). The Italian plates have, in addition, a white "I" on a blue background on the left (for Italia), and a province code on the right (example: MI for Milano). In BeamNG, this code is "NT", which does not exist in real-life. That means that the map Italy is set on the province of Norte (NT), the biggest town of the island.

Points of Interest

There are several gas stations and electric charging stations on the map, as well as three car dealerships (Temeraria Auto in Norte, Claudio Motors in Castelletto and a used car dealership in Lucera) and four commercial garages (Bianco Auto in Conca Azzura, Portino Auto Service in Portino, FBX Car Service in Fastello and Carlino Garage just south of Villapace).

There is a 14th century castle with 5 towers in Castelletto, and a fortress next to Norte, at the extremity of a cape, protecting the bay of Norte.

The commercial port is in Norte, with a large area for loading and stocking shipping containers.

The highest point of the map is the radio tower, just above Portino and a water reservoir, in the south west of the island.
