Bolas

Bola are weapons used by various characters, including Batman. They are often depicted as weighed balls connected together via a rope or wire, which can either be thrown or fired from a device to ensnare a target. Batman and other characters have made usage of Bolas over the years.

• Nightwing made use of a wrist-mounted bola in an issue of the New 52 Nightwing series.

Film

• Batman: Batman makes use of a bola attachment for his spring-action reel during the film. In the climax, the Dark Knight uses it to tether the Joker to a gargoyle to prevent his escape, ultimately causing the villain's death.
• Batman Forever: Batman makes use of a Bat-Bola during the opening fight to ensnare one of Two-Face's Thugs. This version appears to be a Batarang variant.

Animation

• DC Animated Universe: Batman makes use of bolas in multiple episodes of both Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League.

Video Games

• Batman: Arkham series: Catwoman makes use of bolas during Batman: Arkham City, often to subdue enemies in a similar vein to Batman's Batarangs. These are also available in Batman: Arkham Knight.
