Mrs. Chen is a character who only appeared in the episode "China", which was a part of the tenth season of Barney & Friends. She is the mother of Li-an Chen. Mrs. Chen was portrayed by Maria Lau.
Mrs. Chen escorted her daughter Li-an to the park so she could visit her pen-pal BJ, which she explained to her on the way there. Once she got to the park and opened the gate she told her daughter to wait for her and to not run off. When Mrs. Chen and Li-an arrived, they were greeted by Barney with a bow, in which they greeted him with a bow in return.
When Mrs. Chen saw how the park was decorated, she expressed that it looked beautiful and expressed that Li-an was going to have fun. She told her daughter that she'd back for her later and left her with Barney as she said her goodbye to the two of them.
Towards the end of the episode when Li-an was going to get hotdogs with BJ, she would go to get her mom thinking that she'd like to join them for what they were going to eat.
