Aiki (合氣, Aiki; literally: Joining Spirit) is a secret technique of ancient jujutsu.
Description
Aiki is a Japanese martial arts principle or tactic in which the defender blends (without clashing) with the attacker, then goes on to dominate the assailant through the strength of their application of internal dynamics or Ki energy to affect techniques.
Blending with an attacker's movements allows the Aiki practitioner to control the actions of the attacker with minimal effort. One applies Aiki by understanding the rhythm and intent of the attacker to find the optimal position and timing to apply a counter-technique.
A major user of this move is Gouki Shibukawa. For the first time in the series, he used this move against Doppo Orochi during their fight at the Maximum Tournament in the first manga series. However, a few other fighters also can do the Aiki. For example, Jack Hanma learned how to use it during his fight with Shibukawa at the Maximum Tournament.
This had made Aiki masters almost immune to opponents' strikes relying on sheer powers in the series until Shibukawa's match against Kyogei.
