The fans are electrical parts in Bad Piggies.
Appearance
The Fan looks similar to what it name says. It is half as big as a box and is powered by Ross or an engine. It's the first powered item that appears in game.
Usage
The fan can only be activated when directly in a contraption that is powered. Ross does provide a base amount of power, and all engine types provide power, too. If the fan is facing downwards and has sufficient power, it will push the vehicle upwards, but will, curiously, only fly a certain distance above the terrain. This means it can be used to make a vehicle hover. Its alien variation, however, won't hover unless the same amount of fans are pushing down. This can't be used to adjust the hovering height.
The fan is terribly inefficient, taking up an average amount of power while always providing a lower amount of thrust than any other powered item in the game.
Trivia
- When a fan is hovering, cakes will be counted as terrain and will thus be hovered over if you're moving at low speeds.
- When active, the fan's entire texture rotates. In the fan's case, only the propeller inside rotates, not the cage on the outside.
- An alien variation of this part exists. It thrusts in the direction it is facing and is significantly more powerful. It gives even more force than a propeller.
- There are fans that look similar to this fan appear in some of El Porkado levels / sandboxes. They push your contraption in whatever direction they're facing. These big fans first appeared in level 6-9
