Zachariah

"Aside from a longer life span, I suppose, the one advantage to being a synthetic is that demons aren't that interested in me. As long as I don't present a threat to them, they don't attack. That has allowed me extensive access to study the hive's behavior. I have even been in the Queen's chamber, although I don't care to get close to her. I tried once. Her guards did not take kindly to the effort."
Zachariah (from Aliens: Phalanx)

Zachariah was an advanced synthetic companion assigned to the Weyland-Yutani Corporation colony ship Nan-Shan. Following a series of events that led to the ultimate destruction of the ship on planet Ataegina, Zachariah was marooned on the world for 319 years.

Biography

Zachariah, registration number WY2100023, was a synthetic companion assembled by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation at a factory in Tokyo. Later, Zachariah was assigned to the Nan-Shan, an interstellar colony ship capable of transporting hundreds of colonists and its crew to distant worlds.

Prior to Zachariah's reactivation on the Nan-Shan colony ship, most of the its records had been erased. When he was brought online by the ship's captain, he was loaded with medical knowledge, the ability to pilot the ship, and little else, as the Nan-Shan was already in orbital decay. He was then tasked with landing the ship and evacuating everyone he could.

There was in-fighting amongst the ship's crew, resulting in casualties, and at least four additional crew members were killed by a Xenomorph. All colonists, age 11 and older, died while still in cryosleep. Due to cascading system failures brought on by sabotage and internal use of firearms, Zachariah lost control of the ship, which suffered additional extensive damage upon impact.

Zachariah was able to awaken 119 children, all 10 years old or younger, and got them off the ship immediately, knowing the Xenomorph had most likely survived the impact. The children were sent off with nothing but the clothes on their backs, which meant that other than the seed kits Zachariah gave them, they had no tools, weapons, reference materials, or computers.

Knowing the children did not have any knowledge of the Xenomorph life cycle, he told them never to return to the ship for any reason, and to run from skinny, tall, black creatures with no eyes and large egg shaped objects. Since they had no idea what a facehugger looked like, he told them to run from anything that looked like a large spider, elephant or eel.

Following the destruction of the Nan-Shan, Zachariah had been marooned on Ataegina for approximately 319 years.

While the ship and its communications equipment had been damaged beyond repair in the crash, Zachariah spent his time studying the planet's phosphorescent extremophile microbes. Being a synthetic, he was able to safely enter and study the behavior of the Xenomorph hive and the Queen's chamber, allowing him to make detailed drawings, and record data about their life cycle and habits.

On one occasion, Zachariah ventured too close to the Queen, which prompted the Drones to attack him and cripple his legs.

At the end of those 319 years, Zachariah got the chance to meet some of the descendants of the 119 children he awoke. He explained what he could about the Xenomorphs and helped them come up with a plan to destroy the Xenomorph Queen. Zachariah enacted the first part of the plan, which involved him redirecting the mountain's geyser towards the Xenomorph Queen. Zachariah was then destroyed shortly afterwards by one of the Queen's guard drones.
