The Faze is an unknown alien life form that was discovered within the Drukathi Dyson Sphere-like construct that was discovered by the Founders. It is capable of repairing and modifying technology at a greater quality than humans, and was believed to have been created by the Drukathi to maintain their constructs. When the Founders utilized the Dyson Sphere's advanced technology for their benefit, the Faze continued to improve upon the faction's own technology, as it was reverse engineered from Drukathi technology. It later made its home in the engine room of the Macbeth and was left undisturbed by the Rage, who feared it would turn on them if they attempted to experiment on it.
Trivia
- The Faze seems to have been inspired by the Keepers, a genetically modified species present in the Mass Effect franchise that would similarly perform constant repair and maintenance on the Citadel, as well as altering any attempts at human repair. This is by no means the only connection between the Rage War trilogy of novels and the Mass Effect series — the drophole technology utilized in the former also bears striking parallels to the mass relay technology featured in the games.
