A Retiree is an ancient Yautja who is past his prime but has never fallen in battle. They can also be esteemed hunters who have suffered injuries that would cripple them in further hunts; therefore, they retire with dignity rather than risk defeat.[1] Because the Hunt is a dangerous lifestyle that claims even the fiercest, Yautja who manage to grow gray are deeply respected warriors. As for Retirees themselves, they often continue to serve the species as either councilors, mentors to younger Yautja, or shipworkers. The Yautja respect their elders, understanding that while they do not, retired hunters are still potentially capable of hunting.[2] Machiko murdered two Retirees following her betrayal of Top-Knot and his clan.
Dachande mentioned that "the old ones" of his species practice Philosophy[3]. It is possible he means retired Predators, as he distinguishes himself as a do-er and them as thinkers.
