Rat-X is the name of a group of hybrid creatures created by the scientific staff of Pala Station in LV-895 using the black goo.
Dr. Mark Cruz was experimenting on Rat-X in order to study the effects of freezing on the acidic blood, as a way to safely dispose Xenomorphs.[1]
There were at least three specimens in existence; the first was killed in its containment unit by Dr. Cruz. The second one escaped by punching a hole with acid spit and was also disposed by Cruz, but not before it killed a man. The third one was created when a rat came in contact with the previous Rat-X blood, and was killed and consumed by Steven Fairbanks.
Description and traits
Rat-X was likely a rat from the station itself. As the staff used the pathogen to combine the rat's DNA with that from a local spider, the result was a furry beast with gnashing teeth and six two-foot-long chitinous spidery legs[2]. Its size was about two feet tall and three feet wide. An unintended effect of the process was the acid blood and the capacity of spitting the same substance.[3] The creature's face had a maw with serrated teeth that looked capable of shredding.[4]
