Pakistan, officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a country in southern Asia. It is the 33rd-largest country by area, the fifth-most populous country in the world. Bounded by the Arabian Sea on the southwest and Gulf of Oman in the south, it shares land borders with Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest, China to the northeast; separated narrowly from Tajikistan by Afghanistan's Wakhan Corridor to the north; and India to the east. Its capital city is Islamabad.
