Norcomm

Norcomm was a state company of the Union of Progressive Peoples and a major weapon supplier for The Union of Progressive People's Army. Though it was not as sophisticated as that of other superpowers, Norcomm's equipment was famed for its durability.^[1]

History

Originally under the aegis of the Chinese/Asian-Nation Cooperative, Norcomm was absorbed along with the rest of the CANC by the Union of Progressive Peoples in 2164 and became the firearms production division of The Union of Progressive People's Army. At least two models of weapon produced by Norcomm, namely the AK-4047 Pulse Assault Rifle and the QSZ-203 Semi-Automatic Pistol, were renowned for their resistance to adverse conditions as of 2184. Norcomm also created the 1VAN/3 computer mainframe, which was based on the APOLLO system; this caused friction with APOLLO's manufacturer Seegson. Around that time, Norcomm maintained the Ouragan Testing Facility on the Outer Veil world of KOI-571.02; there, weapons and equipment manufactured at the proximal Corinth Colony were assessed before being put into service. Ouragan was destroyed in 2184 following a biohazardous incident. After the UPP conquered the moon of Kawlang during the Frontier War, several of its facilities were used to manufacture Norcomm equipment.
