- "Our friend down there seems to enjoy extreme combat. It's one of his most endearing qualities"
- ―Sake to Fix about the Nightmare Kid
The Nightmare Kid[1] was a captured young Yautja juvenile, that was forced to participate in fighting matches at a club owned by Sake Chiba called Gameworld. He was found by a salvage ship, presumably in some kind of crash, and rounded up by Chiba's men for experiments and fighting, among other things.
Biography
Due to his age, he stood just a little over six feet and had skin like a mottled mushroom. He was stripped of all weapons and most of his clothing, with only leather trunks keeping him decent.
It was one of several creatures caught, illegally, and put up against the club's champion: Hogarth Fix. Prior to the fight, it had been poked, prodded, and made to battle other opponents. However, although Fix was only human and not as powerful, he was quick and could easily read Nightmare Kid's moves before he made them. With a broken mandible and several bruises, Nightmare was all lined up to lose the fight, until the police infiltrated the fighting ring and interrupted the battle with explosives and gunfire. Along with them, another hunter, fully geared up and a foot taller than the Nightmare Kid, intervened as well.
It's later revealed that Nightmare Kid was a juvenile hunter and his savior was the creature's parent, his father, come to rescue him. In the chaos, Nightmare Kid fights his way to Sake Chiba, hellbent on killing him, but he was injured from the previous fight and weakened from his imprisonment. He slowly but surely begins losing to Chiba, until Fix -- a father of three children himself -- shifts his loyalties, throwing Nightmare Kid a large blade he'd secured in the middle of the carnage. Nightmare uses it to kill Chiba, gutting him.
After the fighting is over, his father both rebukes him for being captured and hugs him fiercely, glad that he is safe. Nightmare Kid then takes Sake Chiba's spine as a trophy, leaving with his father after acknowledging Fix for his help.
