Monkeys are non-sapient primate mammals. About 260 species exist.

Description

Most but not all monkeys are omnivorous and arboreal. They are highly intelligent, sociable creatures. On LV-1201, monkeys were among the imported species (along with dogs) used as hosts to breed Xenomorphs, although the resulting Xenomorph strains were never seen.

• In Aliens versus Predator 2, Andrew Harrison encountered a lone monkey in a cage while escaping the Forward Observation Pods.^[1] (First appearance)

Trivia

• Although Xenomorphs birthed from monkeys are not seen in Aliens versus Predator 2, a Gorilla Alien exists in the Kenner toy lines. Xenomorphs spawned from lemurs also appear in William Gibson's unproduced script for Alien³, and Aliens birthed from similar, lemur-like creatures found on Ryushi appear in Peter Briggs' unproduced Alien vs. Predator script, titled The Hunt: Alien vs. Predator.
• In the AvP2 multiplayer map 'Korari compound', a lone monkey is found atop a cliff at the edge of the map.
