Earthsavers

"Oh–tee–bee–dee…Out There Be Demons."
―The Earthsavers' chant (from Alien: Covenant - Origins)

The Earthsavers, also referred to as the Earth Savers, were quasi–religious fanatics convinced that the nightmares of their prophet, Duncan Fields, were premonitions of Earth’s destruction by monsters from the stars, and believed that, to survive, humanity must remain safely close to home and not draw attention to itself by sending crewed vessels out among the stars.

History

In 2103, the Earthsavers masterminded several attacks on the Weyland-Yutani Corporation colony ship USCSS Covenant in a fruitless attempt to halt its launch from Earth orbit. Though the Earthsavers leadership was rounded up by Weyland–Yutani security chief Dan Lopé, several consecutive attacks were carried out in the group's name against other colony vessels, and the Earthsavers were labeled as a terrorist organisation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. An outbreak of the XMB Virus on Earth's moon Luna forced the Olympia colony to be quarantined for sixteen years from January 7, 2094 to April 18, 2110; although no concrete evidence of their involvement was proven, evidence suggested that the Earthsavers were responsible. The Church of Immaculate Incubation, a Xenomorph–worshiping cult, had its origins in an Earthsavers splinter cell; Jannes Ruedi, the founder of the Children of the Two Divines—itself a splinter cell of the Church of Immaculate Incubation—was rumored to be the illegitimate son of original prophet Fields.
