Butch

Butch was a dog of indeterminate breed who was the canine companion of Harry, living with him and several other homeless people in the sewers of Gunnison, Colorado.

He went after the Xenomorphs while his owners, including Harry, are attacked by the Predalien and several Facehuggers, but wasn't seen again afterwards, leaving his fate unknown.

Biography

When Deputy Ray Adams tries to get the homeless people out of the sewers, one of them, Harry calls for his dog Butch, who then brings to them Buddy Benson's severed arm that he found in the forest and drops it in front of them, startling Harry and Ray. 

Later whilst relaxing with his owners, Butch senses something before he suddenly hears the Predalien and Drones in the sewers. He immediately starts barking to get his owner's attention, much to the annoyance of Harry and the others. Curious, he wanders off to see where the noise is coming from, leaving his owners to be attacked by Facehuggers, the Predalien and the Xenomorphs. He is never seen again, but might have been presumably killed by a Xenomorph.

Trivia

• Butch appears to be a heavily blackened German Shepherd.
• Butch was originally intended to serve as host for a Xenomorph in the film, giving birth to a Runner.^[1] However, budget restraints meant Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc. could not afford to build the alternative suit design and so the idea was dropped.
