Biodrone

The Xenomorph XX121B Biodrone was a variant of the Xenomorph Drone artificially created by the United Americas as part of the covert bioweapons program Project Life Force.

Overview

Xenomorph drone caste

Following the UA's acquisition of Xenomorph specimens, efforts to produce an obedient bioweapon followed under Project Life Force. However, the feasibility of this task proved difficult, alongside the trouble of maintaining the Xeno species' population numbers.

Largely due to the efforts of Doctor NL Babak, scientists at Project Life Force successfully rearranged the creature's genetic code; not only were these new 'Biodrones' unable to evolve beyond their current stage, but they had an artificially installed lifespan of six days,[1] meaning that UA-deployed Xenos could wipe out targets and simply die without the potential trouble of an infestation.

However, several aspects of the Biodrone were overlooked by Babak; the creature's Ovomorphing ability was notably left intact, allowing the Biodrone to create new hosts without the need for a Queen. Additionally, the six-day expiration date proved largely unreliable, with some Biodrones simply 'forgetting' to die.[2] Ultimately, Biodrones were still very much capable of establishing Hives and causing an infestation within UA-targeted sites.

Biodrones were completely identical to a normal Xenomorph Drone, and possessed the same behavior and attributes as them. However, they were hostile to typical Xenomorphs, and vice versa.[3]

History

In 2184, a horde of Biodrones was released at the Corinth Colony on the Union of Progressive Peoples planet of KOI-571.02 in 2184. In retaliation, the UPP infected the colony's inhabitants with neomorph spores to generate creatures to counter the Biodrones; however, the resulting neomorphs were easily mowed down by the invaders, prompting a nuclear strike on the colony. One Biodrone managed to escape the blast and reach the nearby Ouragan Testing Facility, where it established a small Hive and began Ovomorphing several staff members. This individual earned the nickname Bol'Shoy among the institution's surviving personnel.

In 2187, more Biodrones formed part of a plot by General Delyla Vaughn to wipe out the Joint Chiefs of the United Americas Allied Command and take control of the UA military. The creatures were transported to LV-846 aboard the USS Alexiares, where they escaped containment and slaughtered the crew. After the Alexiares crashed on LV-846, the Biodrones infiltrated the Pushan Conference and Business Complex, disrupted a vital peace summit, and killed the Joint Chiefs along with various other dignitaries. Shortly after, survivors from the moon of BG-791 reached LV-895, among them Weyland-Yutani Corporation researcher Dr. Martin Fowler. Fowler was carrying an embryonic Xenomorph Queen, and the creature emerged from him at the Center. After growing to full size, the Queen set about slaughtering the Biodrones, thwarting the outbreak.
