Shen Guan

Shen Guan is a fortress town which is located southwest of Omashu. It was the site of a siege during the late Hundred Year War.

History

By the late Hundred Year War, Shen Guan was one of the few remaining Earth Kingdom-held bases in the west.^[1][2] After Fire Lord Ozai ordered the Fire Army to focus on the conquest of Omashu,^[3][4] Shen Guan also became a target.^[1]

In late 99 AG, Fire Army troops under Captain Masaru laid siege to the fortress town, which garrison was led by Captain Boqin by then. The Fire Army soldiers inflicted heavy damage in the stronghold and the surrounding Earth Kingdom camps, but the defenders were eventually able to repel the assault thanks to support by Team Avatar. Not long after, however, Fire Nation forces returned in force to resume the siege, and eventually captured it. Masaru subsequently set up his office in the occupied stronghold, and attempted to secure the surrounding areas where Boqin's forces continued to wage a guerrilla campaign.^[1]

Shen Guan was a fortress town located on a small hill. Centered at the heart of Shen Guan is the well-fortified garrison,^[5] protected by thick, high walls with towers. North of the stronghold there was a dense forest. An infirmary was located to the west, a coal mine existed to the southwest, and a supply station could be found in the southeast beyond a river.^[1] Further south were the Montane Woodlands.^[6]
