This article is about the Rough Rhino. For the orphan from "Divided We Fall", see Juno. For the Fire Nation captain, see Joonho.

Junho[2] was a mercenary and member of the Rough Rhinos. In this capacity, he served as guard for the Earthen Fire Refinery by 102 AG.

History

One of many Fire Nation citizens who felt "lost" following their country's defeat in the Hundred Year War, Junho joined the Rough Rhinos in an attempt to find a place to belong.[3] As part of the group, he served as security detail in employ of Loban and Lao Beifong at the Earthen Fire Refinery.[1]

One day in 102 AG, Team Avatar and three Air Acolytes appeared at the refinery. Lao Beifong ordered the Rough Rhinos to "escort" them off the refinery's premises, but Avatar Aang and Toph Beifong refused to leave. Junho and his comrades were knocked back by airbending and earthbending before they could attack. When the Rough Rhinos quickly got up again, Junho and Yeh-Lu found themselves fighting Katara. Although he was unable to hit the nimble waterbender with his war hammer, Junho was quick to taunt her and Sokka when the two retreated, referring to them as "ice savages". Colonel Mongke promptly urged Junho and Yeh-Lu to get on their komodo rhinos to chase after the Water Tribe members.

The chase concluded at a nearby river, where Junho was initially unfazed by Katara's claim that the Rough Rhinos were in "big trouble". The mercenaries were consequently frozen in ice by the waterbender, and Junho watched silently as Sokka subsequently taunted Yeh-Lu.[1]

A few months later, Junho and the other Rough Rhinos stopped working at the Earthen Fire Refinery.[4]

Personality

Junho was a racist, regarding members of the Water Tribes as a lesser people. He was relatively stoic and usually very calm in combat, including in moments of defeat. However, he was quickly amused when a situation seemingly confirmed his racist worldview.[1]

Trivia

  • Junho, Seijir, and Utor were designed by Gurihiru to look like they are "up to no good", matching the other Rough Rhinos.[2]
