James Sie

James Sie is an American actor and voice actor. He provided the voices of the cabbage merchant, Oyaji, and additional characters across seven episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender and later voiced Lau Gan-Lan and Abbot Shung across two episodes of The Legend of Korra. He returned to his role as the cabbage merchant in Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.[1]

Biographical information

Sie starred opposite Suzy Nakamura in the 1997 independent film Strawberry Fields, directed by Rea Tajiri. In 1999, he wrote and performed the autobiographical one-person stage show Talking With My Hands about growing up in a Chinese/Italian household.

He has provided voices for numerous animated television series, including Danny Phantom as Kwan, King of the Hill, Jackie Chan Adventures as Shendu and animated Jackie Chan, W.I.T.C.H. as Chen Lin, and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance as Fin Fang Foom and Radioactive Man.

Sie voices the main antagonist, Dennis Isenberg, in Capcom's video game Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and plays various characters in its sequels. Sie is also the voice of antagonist Eddy Raja in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and is part of the cast of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots, providing the voice of Jonathan, a hulking soldier who helps Solid Snake.

Trivia

  • Sie was only credited for voicing the cabbage merchant in his second and third appearances; the first and last are as an "additional voice".
