Choi

Choi was the driver of a wagon train that regularly made trips between Bin-Er and the Northern Air Temple during the early era of Yangchen.[1]

History

Choi was the driver of a wagon train that made regular trips from Bin-Er to the Northern Air Temple. A small number of shop owners in Bin-Er looked to soothe their spirits and keep the winds of fortune blowing in their favor by donating unsold goods in bulk to the local Air Nomads as part of an alms mission. By year 17 of the era of Yangchen, the volunteers had been doing it for decades, and were given exceptions to the rules set in place by the Platinum Affair.

They were joined by "Jingli", a waterbender who sat in the back of the caravan to safeguard a load of pottery. Choi barely talked to Jingli for the five days it took to reach the air temple, with nights passing in silence by the campfire. Seeing Jingli gawk somewhat when they reached the temple, Choi told him to stop that, as there was no way they would be going up there. Instead, they stopped at the village below the temple at the end of their journey. When Jingli asked about the village and the people there, Choi told them that the people who were not Air Nomads came from all over, and that they lived in settlements around the mountains so that they could farm food, with the monks picking up what they needed. When Jingli finished unloading the cargo, Choi grunted in appreciation.[1]
